HKD Energy’s first project is up and running.  307 solar panels at Downlands School are now installed and generating electricity from the sun.  Thanks go to all our community investors, who have invested for future generations of children at Downlands School, and to the school’s leadership for their commitment to this community partnership.  Thanks also to our installers Solar Resources of Haywards Heath and their sub-contractors PDP Solar of Burgess Hill for a job well done.

Energy from the sun to power our community

HKD Energy is developing community-owned renewable energy projects in our villages of Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint, Keymer and Ditchling. The projects will:

  • Reduce carbon emissions
  • Harness solar energy to power our community buildings
  • Lower electricity costs for building owners
  • Demonstrate that switching to renewable energy works

A new community project

HKD Energy is a non-profit social enterprise formed to develop solar energy projects on local schools, community centres and commercial buildings. As well as financial returns to investors the projects will provide benefits to the community, now and in the future.

Invest in the future

HKD Energy’s first share launch in 2014 gives local people the chance to invest in solar energy projects for our community. Shareholders will be full voting members of HKD Energy, and will receive an annual dividend, as well as having their original investment repaid in full.

By investing in HKD Energy you are helping create a better future for our children and grandchildren by addressing climate change and increasing energy security.
